Zoom Tennis has arrived at Bexley Mencap!
It doesn’t matter that during lockdown all the outdoor courts are closed because, thanks to a grant from Royal Mencap and the Lawn Tennis Association we can all play indoors! Five members tried out the tennis equipment, which is specially adapted to indoor use. We warmed up by practising our forehands and backhands and then started to serve and volley. But nothing was smashed!
Then we played a range of games with soft balls, a large felt ball, a happy hitting hand and a special balancing mat; not to mention scrunching up coloured scarves and throwing them in the air and then catching them again!
It’s going to be a weekly feature of our activities calendar and more members are joining next week.
