12 Bexley Mencap members took part in our first ever five a side Football competition recently.
The event, at Bromley Town Football club, featured Pan Disability teams and although we’d never played as a side before, everyone played well and we even won one game 4-0!
The enthusiasm on the pitch was only matched by the support on the sidelines from families and staff.
Highlights of the day were a relative of a member watching who commented that their loved one scoring in one of the matches would be the ‘highlight of their year’ and our team having to closely monitor substitutions and sharing game time, because nobody wanted to come off the pitch!
